Gidonim Project - Summer 2014
During July 2014 worked 16 Reut high school students from Jerusalem led by Dina Wiener (the teacher in charge) and her husband Danny in the Jewish cemetery in Czestochowa
As I shared with you in previous publications , they work was volunteer in very difficult conditions.
After the end of the first part of the work in the cemetery, they currently performed the second part of typing, data verification, cross checking the names with the pictures, and ultimately more detailed examination of each image respectively to register before puting it in the website of the Gidonim.
As I said, they worked this year in a part of the cemetery which was damaged during WW II, when most of the tombstones were found lying on the ground, some of them upside down to earth with the words (which must to Turn them up ) and partly broken.
With great effort we mapped approximately 947 tombstones and around 100 of them we could only partially restore the inscription and to whom they belonged - a list of names will be published in the website when registration is complete.
Those of you who are on Facebook are invited to Dina Wiener page or my and see photos taken by Dina, Danny and the students.
This is another opportunity to say again Thank You to Dina, Danny and Reut high school students for the effort they made.
To complete the mapping project, will be required another two years of work in the cemetery. I hope that you will be assisted us with your generous to finance this important mision in 2015 summer.
