| Three days later we were taken in the opposite direction from Augustów, again near a forest and railroad. 7 pits of the same size were located there. Bodies in an advanced state of decomposition. Mostly men, about 2,000 bodies. While we were working, a truck came with 12 still bleeding bodies: gunshot wounds to the upper body and head. The bodies were completely naked. Ten young women, except for one, and 2 men from the city. They were burnt together with the unearthed bodies. A few smaller piles were arranged in a different place - those were burning for about 8 hours. Our work in both places in Augustów took two weeks. |
