The Society for Advancement of Education (SAE) is a Jerusalem based non-profit organization. The SAE has established eight residential education campuses and high schools in Israel, serving 2,000 youth from the country’s geographic and economic periphery, and its urban centers.

Programs include:

  • The “Steering center for Ethiopian Immigrants, started in 1994 the Steering Center operates a team of 55 educational mediators working in 140 schools with high concentrations of Ethiopian immigrants. The program reaches over 11,000 students every day, helping Ethiopian students achieve their full scholastic potential.
  • Alternative educational programs that offer high quality academic training, such as the Na’ale project – a three-year program for 1,200 teenagers from Jewish communities across the world who immigrate ahead of their parents, and complete their high school education in Israel.

As Israeli society continues to polarize the number of children, growing up in poverty continues to rise. Independent research conducted by the Henrietta Szold Institute, affirmed that over 80% of SAE pupils come from families that live below the poverty line. The SAE provides access to top quality schools and supportive environments for diverse populations – such as secular and religious pupils, Haredim, Ethiopians and a wide range of disadvantaged communities in Israel, so that all can reach their full potential in their social, educational and leadership endeavors.
